Why DeliDej?
History
Our journey
In the Netherlands, there are no school cafeterias. Parents therefore have to pack their children’s lunches every day throughout their school years. It’s a meticulous daily routine: coming up with ideas, stocking the fridge, and cooking early in the morning.
We’ve lived those busy mornings, and we wanted to change things. We needed a simple, reliable alternative that would free parents from this daily constraint without compromising on quality.
2017 – The breakthrough
We’ve all experienced those hectic mornings and wanted to change that. We needed to come up with an alternative to free parents from this burden, without compromising on quality. That’s how the DeliDej concept came about: homemade, fresh, balanced and varied meals, served directly at school.
2018 – The Launch
Since 2018, we have been designing our lunchboxes in the French style: a hot meal and a dessert. They have quickly become a hit: the children eat a balanced diet, and parents tell us they save time and have peace of mind.
2020 – Solidarity
During the Covid pandemic, we have decided to keep our business running by delivering meals directly to families. We want to support them and we are proud of what we offer.
2023 – Gratitude
We have been awarded the French Entrepreneur Award. This prize, presented by the CCI France Netherlands, recognises six years of dedication, made possible by the trust of our growing community. It is a great honour for us.
Today – A growing community
We work with eight schools in The Hague and Amsterdam, and prepare 60,000 meals a year. Quality and taste are guaranteed, and companies are now entrusting us with their catering needs.

When we created DeliDej, we built the service we would have loved to have had as parents: simple, reliable and good.
We have listened, tested and improved. These constant adjustments are informed by feedback from families, as well as discussions with the management teams of the schools we work with.
From the outset, we have put our respective experience in industry and consultancy at the service of DeliDej.

OUR COMMITMENTS
Cook well to eat well
We have gradually refined our offering to ensure it reflects our values and meets your needs.
- A seamless experience. An efficient distribution system for the children, supported by staff from the Lycée Français and TomPouce.
- A hot meal for everyone. Whether in nursery, Year 1, secondary school or sixth form, every child is entitled to a proper hot meal.
- Taste comes first. Our supplier regularly sends us samples of their dishes to try. We can confirm: they’re delicious.
- Flexibility for parents. You can place your order until 8 pm the day before. We know exactly how it feels: we’re parents too.
OUR RESPONSIBILITIES
A responsible and transparent approach
Our personal values were non-negotiable when we founded DeliDej. Every day, we operate with a strong sense of social and environmental responsibility.
The choice of home-cooked meals: As advocates of organic food and eco-responsibility, we are not yet able to offer organic meals, but we prioritise fresh, home-cooked food. This is our commitment to your children’s health.
Zero plastic waste: We refuse to take the easy route with disposable tableware. Each child receives their meal in a reusable lunchbox free from BPA and BPS, designed to be microwave-safe.
These boxes are made in France (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) by our partner monbento®.
Supporting local businesses: From our creation to our sourcing, we have chosen to work with local businesses.
